Welcome to the battle of the control freaks. Yuhwa never says sorry. Paul is never wrong. Good thing neither one of them is the herald¿ Yuhwa Bon-Gil, celebrated Jadoube majio. Orphaned too early, she learned to depend only on herself. All grown up, she's a free spirit, good for a night of celebrating and fun, gone in the morning. Recently she made friends of the first Humans to travel the Aoni, enjoying the excitement, keeping clear of major responsibilities. Just the way she likes it. Is she a little miffed at being tricked by a lying thief last time? Oh yeah. Is she dreading being called home to commence the great spiritual journey all her people undergo? For sure. That's why she's not doing anything more taxing right now than flying the Eternidad back to Earth and returning with more Humans. Retrieve a friend's family? No problem. Paul Phelan knows he's a lot more than just the older brother of a Drazoen Herald. Sure, Katy woke up one of those dragons (so she says), but he's going to travel on a spaceship to the center of the Universe/Aoni to see what's what for himself. Not to mention he'll keep the rest of his family safe and in line. It doesn't hurt that getting off a planet imploding with xenophobia after his sister's antics seems like the safest bet. He can slide right into the role of Next Herald on Deck, thank you very much. He teaches gymnastics to little kids; how much harder can it be to wake up a sleeping dragon? He'll get right on that. Once he's figured out exactly how intergalactic politics, food replicators, and rogue spaceships work. Together Yuhwa and Paul might just be the saviors of a Drazoen lost to the Aoni. Or they could kill each other. Odds are even, so place your bets. While Descant can be read on its own, it is intended as part of a series and you'll find deeper meaning if you start with Virtuoso: Drazoen Heralds Book 1
