Synopsis

Running out of time to pay their debts, Calla and her father climb the treacherous Vanishing Peaks in search of treasure that will satisfy their guild leader, or he will marry Calla. When they discover a forgotten castle hidden in a blizzard, they believe their luck has turned around. Inside, they are confronted by the beast lingering within its walls. Saving her father from a horrible fate, Calla is left behind. When she wakes, the beast makes her a deal. He will spare her father, if she serves both of their prison sentences. Knowing her father will return with the force of their guild, Calla takes the deal. Soon she learns of the beast's cruelty, anger, and pain. When discovering he's the long thought dead Prince of Britannis, Zephyrus, she finds herself relating to his side of the story. It's not long until she sees him in a new light, confused by surfacing feelings. Meanwhile, her father rounds up support from their guild, catching the ear of the queen, who has more than one reason to rid their kingdom of the Beast of the Vanishing Peaks. Torn between the guild and protecting her new friend, Calla is left with an impossible decision. Will she betray the beast or fight the combined forces of her guild and the queen's army?
