In the aftermath of the werewolf attack on LPSS, the shapeshifter school struggles to return to normal. Students who participated in the assault are placed on restrictions, forbidden from wilding or going upstairs. But danger still lurks within the school walls. Laylea discovers she can shift into multiple forms-not just her familiar dog and human shapes, but bears, wolves, and creatures she's never imagined. This terrifying new ability leads her to a devastating conclusion: she's the True Shifter of prophecy, the one Grandpa Delcampo desperately seeks to create his deadly drug, End. While her best friends Oscar and KC sense her struggles, Laylea hides the truth, knowing that revealing herself would endanger everyone at LPSS. When Jase discovers her secret, Laylea realizes she must flee. With Oscar's and KC's help, she plans her escape during a school-wide wilding event. But when she encounters the werewolf pack attacking KC's boyfriend Norman in the zoo, everything changes. Laylea discovers the pack alpha was Gerbrand Delcampo-KC's brother and Grandpa's favorite weapon. At the New Year's Eve fundraiser to support The Phoenix rehabilitation center, Gerber and his wolves take the crowd hostage, demanding the True Shifter. In a desperate gambit, Laylea reveals herself, only to discover the magic compelling the wolves responds solely to those with Delcampo blood. When KC tries to command the pack, Gerber's claws deal her a fatal blow. As the banshee Dee begins her death wail and a storm gathers overhead, the community unites. Mr. Bianchi reveals his own hidden identity as a Delcampo, freezing the wolves in place. Led by Ms. Crow, shifters, wyrdos, witches, and true humans join in a powerful chant that pulls KC back from death, proving that together they are stronger than any one individual-even a True Shifter.
