Synopsis

Vicki Voland starts her new job on the witching hour, and quitting time can't come soon enough. After a surprise visit leaves her scrambling to find a way out of a supernatural contract, Vicki is forced to face down her fears and journey to a new world full of monsters and magic. Her mystical new workplace, a retirement home for elderly monsters and spirits, is no walk in the park. The living mansion seems to have it in for the poor girl, doing its best to make her fail every test she is given - tests that will decide her ultimate fate. To make matters worse, her towering wicked Aunt Zaldehyde may be casting witchcraft against her, ensuring that Vicki will have to do her bidding just to survive. All may not be as it seems in the mansion and her new monstrous friends just might be her only hope of staying alive. Without any magical prowess to complete even the most basic of tests, she will need much more than a wand or broomstick to dispel any doubt that she is heir to her grandfather's contract. Vicki will have to face her biggest fears and her worst held secret if she is to pass the mansion's tests and be found worthy of her new title. Only then can she become The Housekeeper. Readers who enjoyed the Miss Peregrine's book series, Goosebumps, and the Percy Jackson series of books will love this book too! Magic, monsters, and mayhem abound in this story set within a Halloween world filled with old folklore creatures and arcane secrets. Vicki Voland and the Goblins, Ghosts & Ghouls is the first book in a new young adult fantasy series, a macabre fantasy with light scares and self discovery.
