Synopsis

Continuing with his retelling of the Vinland saga, R.G. Johnston publishes the second book in his series of Viking Canada, set in the first millennium. After agreeing to leave Vinland to keep a peace treaty with the First Nation’s people, Thorfinn decides to try and recoup some of his loss on the trip, by voyaging to Hóp, Leif’s southern settlement. As they prepare for their journey south, a mysterious figure joins the group. Gudrid is called to the first nation’s camp to talk with their seer, Bantam; when they’re attacked by unseen assassins and Gudrid gives birth to Snorri prematurely. Only to wake up and discover that her baby is gone. With the arrival of a mysterious gentleman named Odin, Thorfinn is pulled into a plan to stop the cosmic giants from destroying Midgard in the flames of the Ragnarök
