Synopsis

Belief in a promised Land of Origin has long been the source of persecution for Clara Bowman and her people, but now even speaking its name could result in their imprisonment. When Clara finds her great-grandfather's journal containing descriptions of a land that might be the one they seek, she knows what she has to do. With only her faith to sustain her, Clara embarks on a voyage across a perilous sea accompanied by brash sailors, an infuriating (but attractive) merchant, and a finicky (but attractive) scribe before navigating a jungle that seems bent on killing her and her companions-all while hoping that at the end of their journey is the paradise her people are meant to inhabit: The mythical Land of Origin.
