Synopsis

When a deadly virus breaks out in Seattle, nine thousand people die, while thousands more gain remarkable new abilities. The disaster leaves Jordan Collier, the charismatic leader of The 4400 Movement, in charge of the city, but an international conspiracy will stop at nothing to bring him down. NTAC agents Tom Baldwin and Diana Skouris find themselves caught in the middle as they try to save Seattle from both Jordan and his enemies, with the future of the planet hanging in the balance.

Welcome to Promise City: content & age rating

Intended for adult readers (18+).

A deadly virus kills thousands and grants superpowers to survivors, leading to intense political conflict and violence. Expect strong violence related to plague deaths and conspiracy-driven action.

What to know going in

This book has strong violence, no sexual content, and moderate language. Content notes include death, mass death, and plague/epidemic (see the full list above).

Who'll love this

Teens would be drawn to the superpowers and conspiracy thriller aspects, but the mass-death premise is dark and adult.
